You probably remember, as I do, the excitement of beginning a new school year with new books, new clothes, a new teacher and maybe some new friends. In any event, we always looked forward to renewing friendships with classmates we had not seen over summer vacation.
Our high tech schools today are very different from the ones most of us remember. Laptops, ebooks, PowerPoints…digital everything. But, two things have not changed in our Catholic schools. Christian value-centered education and commitment to academic excellence will always be a hallmark of Catholic education.
This week 38 Catholic schools open in the Diocese of Dallas; 30 elementary , seven high schools and one school for special needs students. Seven of the schools will have new principals.
Administrators have been tweaking the curricula, teachers have been getting classrooms in order and parents made use of the tax-free weekend to stock up on supplies and clothing. Those parents are all making a great sacrifice to provide their children with a Catholic education…a great act of love.
In a few weeks we will have all the enrollment data and I promise you another report at that time.
I offer my blessings on administrators, teachers, students and, of course, our wonderful parents.
