Catholic Charities is one of the jewels of our diocese. Since 1891 their outreach to thousands in need of assistance has been the hands of Jesus reaching out fulfilling the Gospel mandate to welcome strangers, support the weak and serve those in need. The hard working and dedicated staff at Catholic Charities always treat every person, regardless of race or creed, with respect, dignity, patience and compassion.
In turn the citizens of Dallas have responded with wonderful generosity to enable Catholic Charities to fulfill its mission.
One of the significant sources of funds for Catholic Charities is the annual gala where contributors are treated to an evening of fellowship and entertainment. This year’s featured entertainer will be Tony and Emmy award winner comedian Martin Short whose television career includes three of his own shows as well as numerous guest appearances.
Special honoree and emeritus chair of the event will be Sister Mary Anne Owens, former director of Catholic Charities and presently Provincial Superior of the School Sisters of Notre Dame’s Central Province.
This year, the Gala will be held Saturday, January 21, at 6 p.m., at the Hilton Anatole. As usual there will be many great items offered in the silent and live auctions. All proceeds help fund to the many programs of Catholic Charities
