“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”
Edith Lovejoy Pierce
God is constantly giving us a new beginning, something new, a resurrection moment. The Romans called it a “tabula rasa”, a blank slate.
As we begin a new year, we truly have a “tabula rasa” to do with what we will. What will be our choices in the New Year? Our choices say a lot about who we are, much more than what we say. Our choices reflect our true values and beliefs. As they say today, choices are about “walking the walk” not “talking the talk.”
Will our slates be filled with choices that show that say we are people of Faith, disciples of Jesus, men and women of courage and perseverance; that we have courage to stand up for Gospel values and perseverance to stay the course no matter what.
Your slate is there before you, waiting to be filled with your choices.
I wish you all a Happy New Year, and pray that your slate be filled with the Joy and Peace of Jesus Christ.
